This is the fourth in a series of articles that, when complete, will explain how the Prophets concealed the first of seven messages hidden in the Hebrew Scriptures by their use of the ancient Hebrew idioms “build a house,” “raise up a seed,” and “make a name.” The first three articles in the series appeared in the July 1996, October 1997, and October 2005 issues, and a fourth article that should have been attributed to the series appeared in the October 2002 issue. This article continues to track the promise as it was handed down as an oral blessing in the Book of Genesis. It concludes with Jacob handing down different parts of the promise to his various sons.
